Brief Biography of Ryōnosuke Fukui (1923–1986)

  • 1923: Born in Nihonbashi, Tokyo, Japan.

  • 1944: Graduated from the Metal Casting Department of Tokyo Fine Arts School.

  • 1946: Awarded First Prize at the 41st Taiheiyō Art Exhibition for “Winter in Michinoku”.

  • 1954: Received Honorable Mention at the 18th Free Artists Association Exhibition for “Window”.

  • 1959: Held his first solo exhibition of stencil prints at Nihonbashi Gallery; gained international recognition.

  • 1965 onward: Focused on oil painting, depicting still lifes, landscapes, and women with a subdued and poetic style.​
