MIWA Ryosaku (Ryukisho) Biography (1940 - )

1940: Born in Hagi, Yamaguchi Prefecture, as the eldest son of MIWA Kyusetsu XI (Jusetsu).

1967: Completed the graduate program in ceramics at Tokyo University of the Arts and produced his graduation work, Hanako's Elegant Life (High Heel).

1974: Established his kiln in Hagi, Yamaguchi Prefecture, and began full-scale ceramic production.

1977: Awarded the Gold Medal at the Faenza International Ceramic Competition and appointed Professor at Hagi Women's Junior College.

1989: Received the Japan Ceramic Society Award.

2003: Succeeded to the name MIWA Kyusetsu XII.

2011: Received the Gold Prize of the Japan Ceramic Society Award.

2019: Passed the title of Kyusetsu to his younger brother Kazuhiko and adopted the artist name “Ryukisho.”
