Ryonosuke Fukui (1923–1986)
Biography
1923 — Born in Nihonbashi, Tokyo. During his school years he aspired to become an artist and studied under Shigeyuki Shimano.
1944 — Graduated from the Metal Casting Department of the Crafts Faculty at Tokyo Fine Arts School.
1946 — His painting Winter in Michinoku was accepted for the first time at the 41st Taiheiyo Art Association Exhibition and received First Prize.
1954 — Exhibited Window at the 18th Free Artists Association Exhibition and received an Honorable Mention Award.
1959 — Held his first solo exhibition of stencil prints at Nihonbashi Gallery. Recognized by an American art dealer living in Japan, he subsequently exhibited internationally and gained recognition through international print exhibitions.
After 1965 — Focused primarily on oil painting. Working with still lifes, landscapes, and figures, he established a lyrical and refined style distinguished by poetic sensitivity.
Throughout his career, he remained independent and pursued a highly personal artistic vision.
1986 — Passed away at the age of 62.
