Hiroki Oda (1914–2012)
Biography
1914 — Born in Senju Village, Kaho District, Fukuoka Prefecture (present-day Kama City).
1934 — Entered the Japan Fine Arts School, where he studied Western-style painting under Sakujiro Okubo and Takeshi Hayashi.
1940 — Selected for the first time for the 27th Nika Exhibition and subsequently became active in the association.
1950 — Elected a member of the Nika Association and gained recognition for his dreamlike depictions of women.
1968 — Received the Prime Minister’s Award at the 53rd Nika Exhibition for Women by the Stream.
1995 — Awarded the Japan Art Academy Prize and the Imperial Prize, and became a member of the Japan Art Academy.
