Kazu Wakita (1908–2005)
Biography
1908 — Born in Aoyama, Minato-ku, Tokyo, Japan.
1925 — Entered the Berlin State Academy of Fine Arts, where he studied figure drawing and wood engraving.
1930 — Graduated from the academy with a Gold Medal and returned to Japan.
1936 — Participated in the founding of the Shinseisaku-ha Association and subsequently exhibited regularly in its annual exhibitions.
1955 — Received the Grand Prize at the 3rd International Art Exhibition of Japan.
1991 — Opened the Wakita Museum of Art in Karuizawa, Nagano Prefecture, fulfilling a long-held dream, and became its director.
2005 — Passed away from a myocardial infarction at the age of 97.
