Saburo Aso (1913–2000)
Biography
1913 — Born in Honminato-cho, Kyobashi Ward, Tokyo.
1930 — Entered the Taiheiyo Art School, where he met artists including Shunsuke Matsumoto and Masaaki Terada.
1936 — Co-founded the group École de Tokyo with Masaaki Terada and others.
1938 — Traveled to Europe but returned to Japan after six months due to the outbreak of war.
1939 — Co-founded the Art Culture Association (Bijutsu Bunka Kyokai) with Ichiro Fukuzawa, Noboru Kitawaki, Masaaki Terada, and others.
1943 — Established the Shinjin Gakai with Masaaki Terada, Shunsuke Matsumoto, Aimitsu, and fellow artists.
1947 — Joined the Free Artists Association (Jiyu Bijutsuka Kyokai).
1952 — Began teaching at Musashino Art School.
1964 — Left the Free Artists Association and continued his career as an independent artist.
2000 — Passed away at the age of 87.
